The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Instituto Nacional
de Estadística y Geografía, INEGI) reported on Friday that Mexico’s economy grew
by 0.9 percent q-o-q in the three third quarter in 2022, following an upwardly
revised 1.1 percent q-o-q expansion (from +0.9 percent q-o-q) in the previous
quarter. This marked the fourth consecutive quarter of growth, which, however,
was slightly below the preliminary estimate of a 1.0 percent q-o-q increase.
Meanwhile, on a y-o-y basis, Mexico’s economy advanced 4.3 percent in
the third quarter, up from an upwardly revised 2.4 percent gain in the second
quarter and preliminary estimate of 4.2 percent.
Economists had predicted the q-o-q growth rate to stay unrevised at 1.0 percent
and the annual reading to be revised to 4.1 percent.
