The European Union's (EU) diplomats will gather Friday evening to see if they can hammer out a final deal on the price cap for Russian oil, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter.
According to the report, the block's members have been divided on how strict the price cap should be, with countries like Poland objecting to set a $65/barrel limit, which, in its view, is too generous to Russia, and some other nations, including Greece, refusing to go below that level.
One source, however, told Bloomberg that the diplomats are optimistic that they can finalize a deal on Friday. Meanwhile, two of the people said that the EU member states were discussing the inclusion of a regular price review as a possible compromise.
