Eurozone investor confidence improved slightly in early August

The results of the survey published by Sentix showed that at the beginning of August, the global economic situation practically did not change compared to July, as did the economic indices for the eurozone.

Despite the fact that the eurozone investor confidence index rose slightly (+1.2 points, to -25.2 points), the current situation index (-16.3 points) and the expectations index (-33.8 points) continue to paint a gloomy picture of the economic situation in the eurozone. Sentix reported that consumer sentiment is likely to be the biggest economic burden at the moment, as consumers are increasingly aware of the financial burden of high energy costs.

The data also showed that the German investor confidence index fell to -24.4 points from -24.2 points in July, and reached its lowest value since May 2020. The index of the current situation also decreased - to 14.8 points from -13.0 points in July. The last value was the lowest since February 2021. Meanwhile, the expectations index rose slightly (to -33.5 points from -34.8 points in July), but still remains in negative territory. The economy thus remains firmly on course for recession.
