China's exports to Russia rose sharply last month

According to the report from the Customs General Administration of China (CGAC), China's exports to Russia rose in July, recording the first increase since March 2022.

Shipments to Russia increased by 22.2% per annum in July after falling by 17% per annum in June. Meanwhile, imports from Russia - the main source of oil, gas, coal and agricultural goods for China - slowed to 49.3% per annum in July from 56% per annum in June.

The data also showed that oil supplies from Russian ports to China reached the lowest level since February 2022 in July, amounting to 21.3 million barrels. In May and June, Russia was the largest supplier of oil to China.
