Data published by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) showed that in July the unemployment rate (excluding seasonal adjustments) was 2.0%, unchanged from June. Meanwhile, the number of registered unemployed amounted to 91,474 people, a decrease of 1,037 people compared to June. In annual terms, the number of unemployed decreased by 36,805 people (-28.7%).
Youth unemployment (15-24 years old) increased by 331 people (+4.3%), to 8089 people. Compared to July 2021, this corresponds to a decrease of 4,112 people (-33.7%).
The number of unemployed aged 50-64 years decreased by 969 people (-3.3%) to 28,309 people. In annual terms, this corresponds to a decrease of 10,833 people (-27.7%).
SECO also reported that a total of 163,315 applicants were registered, down 5,629 from the previous month. Compared to the same period last year, the number of applicants decreased by 55,868 people (-25.5%).
