The Ministerio de Empleo y Seguridad Social reported on Monday that the number
of unemployed people in Spain declined by 41,409 m-o-m (or -1.45 percent)
to 2,880,582 in June, after dropping by 99,500 m-o-m in the previous month.
This was the lowest reading since October 2008, the start of the global
financial crisis.
On y-o-y basis, unemployment decreased by 733,757 people (or -20.3
percent).
According to the report, unemployment decreased in all autonomous
communities except Andalusia. Sector-wise, Services saw a decline of 41,017 (or
-1.99 percent) in unemployment in June, and Industry of 7,148 (or -3.95 percent) and Construction of 4,981 (or -2.15 percent). At the same time, unemployment
in Agriculture increased by 8,863 (or +6.42 percent).
