European Central Bank Governing Council member Pierre Wunsch told in an interview with Econostream on Monday that he is very comfortable with an interest-rate cut in June.
The official, however, warned against cutting rates again in July. In Wunsch's opinion, the follow-on move in July could be interpreted by markets to mean that the ECB is going to cut every meeting. “And that would lead to repricing that might go too far,” he added.
Also, Wunsch heightened that the July rate cut is not a done deal but noted that he believes that the ECB's policymakers are going to do at least two cuts in 2024, barring any bad news.
