Japan Machine Tool Builders' Association (JMTBA) reported on Tuesday its
preliminary estimates revealed that the country's machine tool orders increased
5.5 percent y-o-y in July, following a 17.1 percent y-o-y climb in June.
According to the report, the total value of machine tool orders in July
was JPY142.404 billion, which was down 8.0 percent from June’s reading of
JPY154.711 billion and represented the lowest reading in five months.
In July, domestic orders amounted to JPY51.973 billion (-11.4 percent m-o-m
but +14.5 percent y-o-y), while foreign orders totaled JPY90.431 billion (-5.9 percent
m-o-m but +0.9 percent y-o-y).
Year to day, the Japanese machine tool orders jumped by 25.9 percent
y-o-y to JPY1.054 trillion.
