Japan Machine Tool Builders' Association (JMTBA) announced on Thursday
its preliminary estimates showed that the country's machine tool orders surged 23.7
percent y-o-y in May, following a 25.0 percent y-o-y jump in April.
According to the report, the total value of machine tool orders in May
was JPY 153.321billion, which was down 1.1 percent from April's
reading of JPY154.991 billion and represented the lowest reading in three
months.
In May, domestic orders amounted to JPY49.488 billion (+49.0 percent
y-o-y), while foreign orders totaled JPY103.833 billion (+14.5 percent y-o-y).
