The European Commission (EC) reported on Friday its flash estimate
revealed the consumer confidence indicator for the Eurozone increased by 0.9
points to -21.1 in May from an unrevised -22.0 in the previous month.
Economists had forecast the index to rise to -21.5 early this month.
Considering the European Union (EU) as a whole, the consumer sentiment
indicator slipped by 0.4 points to -22.2 in April.
Given this month’s modest moves both indicators remained well below
their long-term averages.
