Eurozone’s consumer confidence improves less than anticipated in April

The European Commission (EC) informed on Monday its flash estimate revealed the consumer confidence indicator for the Eurozone inched up 0.2 percentage point to -14.7 in April from an unrevised -14.9 in the previous month. This was the highest reading since February 2022 (-9.4).

Economists had predicted the index to increase to -40.0 early this month.

Considering the European Union (EU) as a whole, the consumer sentiment indicator held steady at -15.2 in April.

Both indicators remained well below their long-term averages.
