European Central Bank Governing Council member Gediminas Simkus said on Friday that he thinks the conditions are in place to move to a less restrictive monetary policy. The official added a rate decrease in June, in his view, is very likely, but admitted that a rate cut in April cannot be completely ruled out, though the likelihood is low.
Simkus also suggested that there could be several rate cuts this year and noted that he sees no reason for cuts of more than 25 basis points at a time.
