A Russian negotiator said on Wednesday that a potential ceasefire will be discussed in upcoming talks with the Ukrainian delegation, reported Russia's Interfax. The Russian delegation is waiting for talks with their Ukrainian counterpart which are expected to start on Thursday in Belarus, separate Russian news outlets reported. The Russian military has given the Ukrainian delegation a security corridor, reportedly.
Market Reaction
The dollar did see some kneejerk weakness in reaction to these headlines, with EUR/USD momentarily popping about 30 pips higher to the 1.1140s in hopes that de-escalation could be on the cards. But a ceasefire remains very much not the markets base case, and so dollar losses were quickly pared, with EUR/USD now trading back near the 1.1100 level.
