Addressing Russia's attack on Ukraine, the UK's prime minister (PM) Boris Johnson noted that the worst fears have now come true as Putin has unleashed a war on the European continent. Britain and the world cannot allow Ukraine's freedom to be snuffed out, he stated, adding that they cannot and will not look away.
According to Johnson, the UK will do what more we can in the days ahead on providing Ukraine with defensive weaponry. In addition, Britain will agree with its allies on a massive package of economic sanctions designed in time to hobble the Russian economy.
We must collectively cease dependence on Russian oil and gas, he argued, stressing that the hideous and barbaric venture of Putin must end in failure. We will work with allies for however long it takes to ensure sovereignty and independence of Ukraine is restored, Johnson added.
