Germany's chancellor Olaf Scholz stated on Thursday that spoke to Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelenskyy this morning and assured him of the EU's full solidarity.
He also noted that Russia's president Vladimir Putin has made a serious error with this war, endangering the lives of countless people in Ukraine. I call on Putin immediately to stop the attack, the German chancellor stated, adding that he must fully withdraw his troops from Ukraine.
Scholz also informed that he will call a conference of G7 leaders for today, and will go to Brussels to meet EU leaders this evening.
According to him, the aim of sanctions is to make clear to Russian leadership they will pay a bitter price.
