The Commerce Department reported on Wednesday its final estimates unveiled
that the U.S. wholesale inventories edged up 0.1 percent m-o-m in December 2022, matching the preliminary
estimates. This
marked the 29th straight monthly increase in wholesale inventories, which,
however, was the smallest one.
Economists had forecast the reading to remain unrevised at +0.1 percent
m-o-m.
In November, wholesale inventories jumped 0.9 percent m-o-m.
According to the report, durable goods inventories surged 0.1 percent
m-o-m in December, while stocks of nondurable goods plunged 1.2 percent m-o-m.
In y-o-y terms, wholesale inventories climbed 17.6 percent in December.
