The eurozone unemployment rate stabilized in April

Data published by Eurostat showed that in April the eurozone unemployment rate did not change and amounted to 6.8%, as expected by economists. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate in the European Union has stabilized at 6.2%.

Eurostat reported that in April, the number of unemployed in the eurozone decreased by 2.175 million in annual terms, to 11.181 million. As for the EU countries, the number of unemployed amounted to 13.264 million. Unemployment decreased by 2.543 million compared to April 2021.

The data also showed that the unemployment rate among young people (under 25) in the euro zone and the EU fell to 13.9% from 14% in March. In April, 2.600 million young people were unemployed in the EU, of whom 2.122 million were in the euro area. Compared with April 2021, youth unemployment decreased by 685,000 in the EU and by 555,000 in the euro area.
