Boston Fed president Collins: Important to see clear and convincing signs inflation is falling

Boston Federal Reserve president Susan Collins said on Monday that the goal of a more modest economic slowdown is challenging but achievable. She also noted that it is important to see clear and convincing signs inflation is falling.

According to Collins, getting inflation down will require slower employment growth and a somewhat higher unemployment rate. At the moment, the U.S. labor market is very hot, she said.

The policymaker also added some of the global supply chain issues are beginning to fade and noted that her policy decisions will be guided by a range of incoming data.
