The European
Commission (EC) reported on Friday its flash estimate revealed the consumer
confidence indicator for the euro area decreased 0.2 percentage point to -15.3
in June from an upwardly revised -15.1 (from -15.2) in the previous month.
Economists
had expected the index to increase to
-14.5 early this month.
Considering the
European Union (EU) as a whole, the consumer sentiment indicator also slipped 0.2 percentage point to -14.8
in June.
With this
month’s decreases, both indicators remained below their long-term
averages.
