The European Commission (EC) reported on Monday its flash estimate revealed
the consumer confidence indicator for the Eurozone edged up by 0.1 percentage points
to -17.4 in May from an unrevised -17.5 in the previous month. That marked
the best print since February 2022 (-9.4).
Economists had predicted the index to increase to -16.8
early this month.
Considering the European Union (EU) as a whole, the consumer sentiment
indicator rose by 0.6 percentage points to -18.6 in May.
Despite this month’s upticks, both indicators held well
below their long-term averages
