The European Commission (EC) announced on Thursday its flash estimate revealed
the consumer confidence indicator for the Eurozone jumped by 1.6 percentage points
to -17.5 in April from an upwardly revised -19.1 (from -19.2) in the previous
month. That was the highest reading since February 2022 (-9.4).
Economists had forecast the index to rise to -18.5
early this month.
Considering the European Union (EU) as a whole, the consumer sentiment
indicator climbed by 1.7 percentage points to -18.9 in April.
Despite this month’s advances, both indicators remained well below their long-term averages.
