The employment report issued by Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP) and
Moody's Analytics revealed on Wednesday that U.S. private employers added 145,000
jobs in March.
Economists had expected an addition of 200,000 new jobs for March.
The February figure saw an upward revision to 261,000 from the originally reported 242,000.
Commenting on the latest report, Nela Richardson, ADP’s chief economist,
noted that it is one of several signals that the U.S. economy is slowing. “Employers
are pulling back from a year of strong hiring and pay growth, after a three-month
plateau, is inching down,” she added.
