The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) reported on Monday
that Switzerland's seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate edged
down to 2.5 percent in February from 2.6 percent in January. This was the
lowest rate in three months. Economists had foreseen the reading to decrease to
2.5 percent.
According to the report, the number of unemployed reduced by 4,298 persons
m-o-m (or -3.5 percent m-o-m) to 117,970 at the end of February.
On an adjusted basis, the unemployment rate slipped to 2.2 percent in February from 2.3 percent in the previous month.
