US Treasury bond yields decreased slightly

US Treasury bond yields are showing a minimal decline, while investors are monitoring the development of the situation around the coronavirus, and are waiting for the publication of US data.

The yield on 10-year Treasury bonds declined by 0.4 basis points, reaching 1.626%, while the yield on 30-year bonds was 2.012% (-0.5 basis points).

More than 103,000 people are currently hospitalized with Covid-19, the first time the total has reached six figures in nearly four months, according to the latest data from the US Department of Health and Human Services. Meanwhile, Johns Hopkins University said that about 1 of every 100 Americans will have been reported as a positive case in just the last week.

As for the US data, a report on the level of vacancies and labor turnover for November will be released today at 15:00 GMT, which, along with other reports on the labor market, is closely monitored by Fed policymakers and may affect the prospects for tightening monetary policy. Job Openings are expected to grow to 11.06 million from 11.03 million in October.

Also at 15:00 GMT, the production index from the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) will be presented. According to the forecast, in December the index fell to 60.1 points from 61.1 points in November.
