Trade credit insurer Euler Hermes said that chip manufacturers, which recorded a surge in demand for chips in the era of the pandemic, are likely to continue to see sales growth this year.
According to Euler Hermes forecasts, semiconductor sales - which are estimated to have grown by 26% in 2021 - will increase by 9%.
Euler Hermes analysts said that the increase in semiconductor sales was due to three factors.
- extremely high demand for personal consumer electronics
- a significant increase in prices against the background of the discrepancy between supply and demand.
- improvement of the range of semiconductors as a result of the introduction of a new generation of chips.
However, analysts warned that this year the impact of these factors may weaken against the background of normalization of demand and an increase in the supply of chips.
"In addition to the normalization of demand for computers and servers, unpredictable events may also have an impact on the sector in 2022, damaging large semiconductor manufacturing enterprises such as Taiwan and South Korea," said the Euler Hermes expert.
