The
Conference Board (CB) reported on Monday that its employment trends index (ETI)
rose to 114.49 in November from an upwardly revised reading of 113.03 in October.
According
to the CB’s report, last month’s increase in the indicator was due to gains in six
of eight components, with “Initial Claims for Unemployment Insurance” and “Industrial
Production” contributing the most to the overall advance. At the same time, “Percentage
of Firms With Positions Not Able to Fill Right Now” and “Percentage of
Respondents Who Say They Find Jobs Hard to Get” made negative contributions to
the headline index.
