Germany intends to tighten restrictions related to Covid-19, amid an increase in cases of the disease

The German government announced that on Wednesday it will decide on further measures to combat Covid-19, which may include stricter restrictions and even complete isolation.

Earlier this week, German Health Minister Spahn warned that by the end of winter, "almost everyone in Germany will be vaccinated, will recover or will die." Span noted that access to public places - such as bars, restaurants, cinemas and museums - should only be available to vaccinated, recently recovered or those who have had a negative test.

Last week, the country's government and local authorities approved further nationwide restrictions that will be applied in response to the number of hospitalizations in the relevant region.

According to the latest data, the number of new Covid cases in Germany has reached a record 66,884, compared with 45,326 on Tuesday.

Against the background of the lowest vaccination rate in Western Europe (66% of the population), the German government announced that it is considering mandatory vaccination of its citizens. Earlier, Austria announced that from February 1, vaccination against Covid will become mandatory, while countries such as Italy and France reported that vaccination against Covid will be mandatory for medical workers.
