Emerging markets are causing more discontent among investors - HSBC

According to a survey conducted by HSBC from September 28 to November 17, against the background of weaker economic growth and the prospects of tightening the Fed's policy, more than 25% of investors were negative about emerging markets. By comparison, in June, only 10% of investors expected emerging market stocks to fall. In addition, the share of those who are bullish about emerging markets fell to 27% from 40% in June. In general, investors pointed out that the greatest risk for emerging markets is the possibility of tightening monetary policy in developed countries.

Since the beginning of this year, emerging market assets have shown weak dynamics and are now trading at the largest discount compared to developed markets since 2004.

Meanwhile, the HSBC survey found that the share of investors expecting the growth of emerging markets to accelerate in the coming year fell to 37% from 60% in July.

HSBC reported that investors prefer Central and Eastern European assets instead of emerging markets assets.
