German companies diversify supplies and move production - DIHK

A survey conducted by the DIHK Chamber of Commerce and Industry revealed that more than 50% of German companies that do business abroad have problems with supplies or logistics. Against this background, they are reducing delivery routes and moving their own production.

Experts note that the shortage of semiconductors threatens the recovery of the German economy, as a result of which company executives are changing supply lines and reducing dependence on Asian and American suppliers.

A survey by DIHK showed that more than half of German companies have experienced disruptions in supply chains or logistics. In the spring, the share of these companies was 14% less.

According to the survey, due to failures in the supply chain, 54% of companies intend to adapt supply chains or have already done so, while 72% of these companies are looking for new or additional suppliers, 32% plan to reduce or change delivery routes and 15% intend to move their own production.

The companies reported that when searching for new production sites, the availability of qualified workers, the geographical location of the site and general economic conditions are key.
