U.S. treasury bond yields rose on Tuesday

Yields on 10-year and 30-year US bonds continued to rise on Tuesday, while the news about the reappointment of Jerome Powell as head of the Fed remained in focus.

The yield on 10-year Treasury bonds rose by 1 basis point, reaching 1.634%, while the yield on 30-year bonds was 1.98% (+0.2 basis points).

Biden said the day before that he appointed Powell to a second four-year term as chairman of the Fed, while Lael Brainard received the post of vice chairman. Overall, Powell's appointment reinforced expectations that the Fed would remain committed to lifting emergency stimulus measures.

Experts believe that the Fed will raise rates more slowly, taking into account that concerns about Covid-19 may affect economic sentiment.
