The preliminary list of positions in the Cabinet of Ministers of Germany suggests that Olaf Scholz may become the next chancellor of the country - instead of Angela Merkel.
According to the document, Christian Lindner, who is the head of the Free Democrats, will become finance minister. Meanwhile, Robert Habek, who is now co-leader of the Green Party, will be appointed "super minister" who will be responsible for the economy, climate protection and energy transition.
The latest decision on the ministries can be regarded as a clear progress in the coalition negotiations between Scholz's Social Democrats and the two junior parties.
However, the latest appointments may not be final and there is a possibility of reassignment before the completion of coalition negotiations this week.
Scholz is aiming to be sworn in as chancellor during the week starting Dec. 6.
