Eurozone GDP and employment growth accelerated in the third quarter

According to a preliminary estimate published by Eurostat, in the 3rd quarter, eurozone GDP grew by 2.2% (seasonally adjusted) after an increase of 2.1% in the second quarter. The latest increase coincided with the forecasts of experts.

In annual terms, GDP increased by 3.7% (seasonally adjusted) compared with an increase of 14.2% in the second quarter. Analysts also expected an increase of 3.7%.

For comparison, in the third quarter, US GDP grew by 0.5% in quarterly terms and by 4.9% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

The data also showed that in the third quarter, the number of employed in the eurozone increased by 0.9% compared to the previous quarter. In the second quarter, employment increased by 0.7%. In annual terms, employment increased by 2.0% after an increase of 1.9% in the second quarter of 2021.
