EUR weakened against other major currencies in the European session on Thursday, as investors awaited the announcement of the outcomes of the European central bank’s (ECB) latest meeting later in the day, hoping to get clues on the interest-rate liftoff.
The ECB will announce its policy update today at 11:45 GMT, and its president Christine Lagard will follow with a press conference 45 minutes later. It is widely expected that the Bank’s policymakers will keep policy stance unchanged at their October gathering and back against expectations for a rate increase next year, despite rising inflation in Europe.
