France households’ confidence has decreased in October

According to the report from Insee, in October 2021, household confidence has declined. At 99, the indicator that summarizes it has lost two points and has fallen just below its long-term average (100).

In October, the households’ opinion balance related to their future financial situation has decreased by four points and has fallen below its long-term average. 

The share of households considering it is a suitable time to make major purchases has decreased again in October, the corresponding balance has lost two points but remains slightly above its average.

In October, the households’ opinion balance related to their future saving capacity has lost nine points. The one relative to their current saving capacity has fallen by three points. The households’ opinion balance about the opportunity to save has been stable. These three balances remain above their long-term average.

In October, the households' fears about unemployment trend have continued to fall sharply. The corresponding balance has lost eight points and stays well below its long-term average.

In October the share of households considering that prices were on the rise during the past twelve months has been up very sharply. The corresponding balance has gained 17 points and is well above its long-term average.

The households considering that prices will be on the rise during the next twelve months have also been more numerous in October. The corresponding balance has gained 11 points and remains above its long-term average.
