The
European Commission (EC) reported on Thursday its flash estimate showed the
consumer confidence indicator for the Eurozone fell by 0.8 points to -4.8 in October
from an unrevised -4.0 in the previous month.
Economists
had expected the index to decline to -5.0.
Considering
the European Union (EU) as a whole, consumer sentiment deteriorated
by 0.9 points to -6.1.
Despite
this month’s declines, both indicators remained close to or above their
pre-pandemic levels.
